CFP Outlook: Is Alabama the Dark Horse You Need To Watch For?

The Kentucky Wildcats have not been nearly as successful on offense as they had hoped when they brought in Devin Leary. The Wildcat quarterback has largely struggled, completing only 56.4% of his passes and throwing nine interceptions. Kentucky will need him to play his best game as a Wildcat against Louisville. The Cardinals have a good pass rush and the UK offensive line has to give Leary a clean pocket.

UK is 13th in the country in rushing yards per attempt, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. The Wildcats can accomplish two things by running the ball well: keep their offense on schedule and balanced and second, keep the Cardinals offense on the sidelines. Ray Davis needs to have a monster game.

The Kentucky Wildcats are sacking opposing quarterbacks a little more than two times per game. Louisville relies on a clean pocket for Jack Plummer and the best way to disrupt the Cardinals offense is to get pressure on him. Kentucky will need a consistent pass rush to have a chance at the upset.

One of the great equalizers in a football game can be turnovers. Louisville and Kentucky are right around even in turnover margin for the season. The Wildcats need to be plus-two or better in turnovers to have a real chance at the upset.

As the underdog, Kentucky will need to find some hidden points. That could mean a special teams touchdown or a trick play that gets points or maybe a massive edge in penalties. Louisville coach Jeff Brohm is one of the best gameday coaches in the country, particularly on offense. Mark Stoops will need to do his part to steal some points for his Wildcats.
