Michelle Obama is Still a Longshot
Former First Lady Michelle Obama spoke during the second day of the Democratic National Convention at the United Center.
As support increasingly shifts towards Kamala Harris among Democrats, pollsters, and bettors alike, Obama’s odds have continued to decline. Once standing at a distant +10000 a few weeks ago, Obama’s odds have dropped further to +15000.
Already having officially endorsed Harris, along with her husband, former President Barack Obama, Michelle's odds did not move following her appearance at the DNC or after RFKJ's exit from the race.
Along with the Democrats' VP candidate, Tim Walz (+15000), it seems only a Harris dropout could make Obama a contender on the oddsboard.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Drops Out and Endorses Donald Trump
Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appears at a rally at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Aug. 23, 2024, with former President Donald Trump after he quit the presidential race and endorsed Trump.
Trailing Democrat candidate Kamala Harris and Trump, the Republican candidate, RFKJ officially dropped out of the race, throwing his support behind Trump. Kennedy's odds sat at +6600 on August 20, third on the US Presidential election oddsboard. After bowing out, Kennedy's odds plummeted to +15000 at BetMGM Ontario.
Did Donald Trump's Odds Move with RFKJ's Endorsement?
As of July 24, BetMGM Ontario had Donald Trump leading the odds at -190, with Kamala Harris close behind at +150. However, by August 13, the race became much closer, with both Trump and Harris equally positioned at -111. After President Joe Biden's speech on Monday at the DNC, where he publicly supported Harris, Trump's odds shifted to +100. Following Kennedy's endorsement Trump's odds improved to -110.
Kamala Harris Takes Odds Hit Following Kennedy's Trump Backing
Before the recent glitch-filled interview between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, BetOnline had Kamala Harris slightly ahead in the betting markets, with her odds at -125 compared to Trump’s +105. However, by August 13, Harris saw her odds improve to -130, while Trump’s dipped to +110. After the opening night of the Democratic National Convention on Monday, Harris’s odds were at -125 on BetMGM Ontario. Following Kennedy's backing of Trump on Friday, Harris' odds took a slight hit, moving to -110 at BetMGM Ontario.

Nikki Haley's Odds Remain the Same
Before Trump secured the Republican nomination, Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., was gaining momentum, with her odds climbing to +7500.
By August 20, her odds had shifted to +10000 at BetMGM Ontario and Haley's odds remained the same following the news of Kennedy's exit from the race.
Haley’s odds mirror those of Vice-Presidential hopeful JD Vance, suggesting either politician's only viable path to contention would be if Trump were to exit the race.
