The NBA regular season has drawn to a close, and the playoffs are about to begin. The Play-In Tournament features eight teams vying for the final two postseason berths. Tonight, the Orlando Magic host the Atlanta Hawks, and the Memphis Grizzlies travel for a showdown versus the Golden State Warriors. These are our favorite picks for both of those contests!

The Hawks and Magic get things going with a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off in Orlando. The betting market has the hosts out in front, and we like the Magic’s chances of pulling away in this one.
Over its recent sample, Orlando has maximized efficiency on both ends of the court. The Magic are averaging 113.8 points per game over their last five, a sharp increase above their regular season average of 105.4 points per game. Moreover, increased scoring hasn’t come at the expense of defensive integrity. Collectively, those opponents have been held to an average of 101.0 points per game. Predictably, that correlates with a 4-1 mark against the spread.
The Hawks continue to generate a ton of offense, but they remain a vulnerable team defensively. They rank 19th in the league in defensive efficiency, a weakness that has been exposed. Over their last 11 games, all but two opponents have recorded at least 119 points. Further, no team has fallen below 109 points.
Defense wins championships. Or, in the Orlando Magic’s case, it should at least help them knock off the Hawks in tonight’s Play-In game. Backing them on the moneyline is the safe play, but we like their chances of covering the modest spread.

Two teams willing to risk it all offensively take to the court at the Chase Center. Granted, the Warriors didn’t maintain their usual offensive proficiency all year, but they ended the season on a tear. That momentum carries them into what should be a high-scoring affair.
Over their last nine games of the season, the Dubs were up to 120.6 points per game. Golden State embraced its splash-bros roots, averaging 43.1 three-pointers per game across that sample. Most impressively, they saw a dramatic increase in proficiency, shooting north of 37.0% in all but two of those contests.
Memphis will be more than happy to turn this Play-In game into a track meet. They rank sixth in the league in offensive efficiency, a strength they demonstrated over the tail-end of the campaign. The Grizzlies have gone north of 124 points in three of their last four, averaging 122.5 points per game.
When these teams met at the start of the month, they combined for 259 points. That dwarfs their current total of 227.5, making the over our preferred entry point in this Western Conference clash.
