Rockets vs Grizzlies Thursday Prediction | NBA Picks Today, Best Bets

John Canady

Host · Writer

The Houston Rockets are set for a Thursday night showdown against the Memphis Grizzlies. Houston enters this match in second place in the Western Conference standings while riding a four-game win streak. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies trail just 1.5 games behind Houston in third place. Expect the home team to come out swinging with a chance to gain ground on the Rockets.

Rockets vs Grizzlies Best Bet: Rockets ML +146

The Rockets enter this matchup as the underdog on the road despite an impressive four-game winning streak that included a win over the defending champions in Boston. Memphis needs this game to close the gap in the standings between them and Houston, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Rockets have won all three battles between the two teams this season. All things considered, I’ll take the underdogs to steal another win on the road.

Rockets vs Grizzlies Best Total Bet: Under 236.5

Both teams put on an offensive clinic in each of the three games between the Grizzlies and Rockets this season. However, even then, only one game exceeded the 236.5 set total. Assuming the trend stays the same, I’ll take the under on the total, with a final score of 120-113 being a realistic outcome.

Rockets Best Player Bet: Amen Thompson 20+ Points Scored +165

Amen Thompson is two games removed from a career-night against the Celtics where he finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while shooting 13/19 from field goal range. The athletic 22-year-old averaged 30.6 minutes per game, mainly due to his versatility on the defensive end. However, his offensive game continues to come around as the game slows down for him. Against another young and hungry squad, I’ll take the odds that Thompson rises to the occasion and puts together another impressive night against the Grizzlies.

Grizzlies Best Player Bet: Desmond Bane 3+ Threes Made +125

Desmond Bane enters this matchup averaging 17.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists, while shooting 49.7% from field goal range and 38.8% from beyond the arc. The guard took a step back in scoring this season with Ja Morant back on the floor, but that hasn’t kept him from averaging 5.8 three-point attempts per game. Bane’s ability to stretch the floor and shoot from a high clip allows him to explode from three-point range any night. In a big-time matchup against a conference rival, I’ll take the odds on a big night from the TCU product.
